Australian cities could be placed into lockdown as authorities continue attempts to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
A ban on large public gatherings will commence on Monday as schools across the country prepare for the possibility they too could be shut down.
Some schools in Australia are taking matters into their own hands and planning to teach their students remotely, and Health Minister Greg Hunt said a formal directive on closing schools is an option that may be considered down the track.
"When we are looking forward over the course of the next six months we are, rightly, keeping all options on the table," he said.
