Liverpool Shocked 3-0 by Watford, Suffer 1st loss in this season

Liverpool entered Saturday’s Premier League matchup at Watford with a 22-point lead in the table and the title already well in hand, but with a chance to extend their incredible streak of 17 consecutive wins, and their 44-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, which stretches back to January 2019.
The Reds are on pace to obliterate Premier League records for points and wins in a single season – but only one other team in history, Arsenal’s 2003-04 “invincible” squad, has gone undefeated for an entire Premier League season.
Their opponents, meanwhile, are locked in a relegation battle at the bottom of the standings, with only five wins from their first 27 matches – which made the result at Vicarage Road all the more unbelievable.
Led by 22-year-old Ismaïla Sarr, who scored twice in the second half, Watford beat arguably the best team in the world by three goals. Watford struck first in the 54th minute, as Sarr took advantage of a long throw that was allowed to bounce into a dangerous area in Liverpool’s penalty area.

Coronavirus and its impact on the global economy.

The U.S. stock market has officially plunged into correction territory—at the fastest rate ever recorded, suffering its worst losses since the 2008 financial crisis this week amid ongoing panic over the spreading coronavirus and its impact on the global economy.

  • This week alone, the Dow Jones industrial average fell a total of 14%, the S&P 500 by 13% and the Nasdaq Composite by 12.3%.
  • The Dow plummeted nearly 1,200 points on Thursday—its biggest one-day drop ever, thanks to the coronavirus, which has now spread to at least 49 countries in a matter of weeks. Those losses continued on Friday, though the drop was somewhat less severe: The Dow fell 1.4%, while the S&P 500 sank 0.8%.
  • In a statement to reassure anxious investors, the Federal Reserve said on Friday that it was monitoring the “evolving risks to economic activity” posed by the coronavirus and further pledged to “act as appropriate” to keep the U.S. economy stable.

What is a leap year?

What is a leap year?
February 29th only comes once every four years, so many people might not realize why the interesting calendar phenomenon exists. A leap year is a calendar “fix” because the earth’s rotation around the sun isn’t exactly 365 days (or 7,860 hours) so an extra day is added once every four years. This prevents Christmas from being celebrated in the summer, and lunchtime taking place at 3 a.m. and other wacky things that would be thrown off without the extra day. It’s still not perfect, though, as a leap day is skipped every 100 years unless that year is divisible by 400 -- in other words, no leap year in 1700, 1800, 1900, and 2100.

At least six people dead, including gunman from shooting at Molson Coors in Milwaukee

When a brewery employee gunned down five co-workers at Milwaukee's Molson Coors campus, then killed himself, it was the first mass shooting at a workplace involving a current or former employee in 2020.
The incident marked the 13th mass workplace shooting by a current or former employee since 2006, according to a database of mass killings maintained through a partnership between USA TODAY, The Associated Press and Northeastern University.
"Mass shootings are a rare event and at a workplace even rarer," said James Alan Fox, a professor of criminology at Northeastern who tracks the data.
In 2020, there have been more than 2,300 gun violence deaths, which doesn't include more than 3,800 by suicide, in the USA, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Since 2006, 90 people have died in the 13 mass workplace shootings, according to the USA TODAY, AP and Northeastern database.

Google celebrates Sir John Tenniel's 200th birthday with 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired doodle

The tech giant is paying tribute to Sir John Tenniel, the illustrator behind the classic fictional characters of Lewis Carroll's renowned novels, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" on his 200th birthday anniversary.
Tenniel, born in London in 1820, gained fame as an artist at the age of 16. He submitted his first body of work, an oil painting, for an exhibition at the Society of British Artists. Tenniel went on to become a political cartoonist for a weekly magazine, Punch, in 1850. It was there he developed his unique style accompanied by his photographic memory.
Tenniel's talent caught the attention of Charles Dodgson, known to the world as Lewis Carroll after an introduction in 1864. He would later go on to illustrate "Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland" released in 1865, followed by "Through the Looking Glass" in 1871. Tenniel then resumed his work as a political cartoonist with Punch.
His contributions to "Alice in Wonderland" and Punch were honored in 1893 with a knighthood award.

Former Love Island host Caroline Flack committed suicide

Former Love Island host Caroline Flack has been found dead in her London flat, her family have confirmed.
A lawyer for the family said the star had taken her own life.
She stood down from the dating show after she was charged with assaulting her partner in December and was due to stand trial next month.
As well as presenting ITV's Love Island she had co-hosted The X Factor and won Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
The family said in a statement: "We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today, the 15th of February.
"We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time and we would ask they make no attempt to contact us and/or photograph us."
