India woman's team beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets
Opener Shafali Verma cracked a blistering 34-ball 47 as India cruised to a 7-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their final group stage match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Melbourne. Chasing a meagre 114-run target, India crossed the finish line with 33 balls to spare. With the win over the Lankans India also entered the knockout stage, unbeaten in the tournament. Along with Shafali, Smriti Mandhana hit 17, while Harmanpreet Kaur (15), Jemimah Rodrigues (15*) and Deepti Sharma (15*) contributed with the bat in the middle order. Earlier, riding on Radha Yadav’s career best T20I figures of 4/23, India restricted Sri Lanka to 113/9.
